The Vernon Cottage menu ranges from Truly Scrumptious Homemade Strawberry Cream Teas and "probably the BEST Homemade Cake on the isle of Wight" (according to The County Press) to mouthwatering Meat, Fish and Vegetarian Dishes - including our signature 'Old Shanklin Pie' made with succulent slowly roasted lamb, our Award winning 'Steak and Ale Pie', gourmet 100% Steak Burgers and British Chicken Breast Fillet Burgers to our Luxury Vernon Crab & Smoked Fishcakes, the spectacular 'Vernon Seafood Platter' (recommended by The Independent) and our Oven Roasted Vegetarian Lasagne - plus a daily selection of taste-bud tantalising Homemade Specials, all using local produce whenever possible.
Our delightful 'Light Bites' include Doorstep Sandwiches and Freshly Baked Baguette meals to traditional Ploughmans', Oven-Baked Jacket Potatoes, Spicy Nachos and Super Fresh Salads.
The 'Vernon Dessert Menu' ranges from our luxury homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding and Apple Tarte Tatin to our signature 'Vernon Volcano' with melted chocolate Brownie, lashings of ice-cream, marshmallows, fresh strawberries, double cream and even more chocolate!

With their background in the Media, Vernon Cottage owners, Paul and Susan de Vere, aim to bring visitors a touch of the High Life mixed with traditional homemade food values and have drawn together a talented, professional, friendly and enthusiastic team who are dedicated to making your visit to Vernon Cottage an exciting and memorable foodie experience.
Visitors can be served in the enchanting, light and airy characterful Tearooms and Restaurant or in the beautifully landscaped one third of an acre gardens overlooking Shanklin Old Village and the lovely hillside beyond. The tea and beer gardens enjoy full sun from dawn 'til dusk and on cooler days and nights, visitors can relax in the cosy Heated Garden Arbours which are dotted with magical fairy lights.
Vernon Cottage is a must for all holidaymakers to the Isle of Wight and locals alike with 'regular live music' and 'folk dancing in the garden'.
