FISHCAKES 'BEST IN THE WORLD'
Last weekend my mother and I dropped into the beautiful thatched cottage tavern known as Vernon Cottage.
We were greeted by beautiful mowed lawns and everything so peaceful and fresh. We sat outside under a flower strewn arbour. It was hard to believe where we were.
We ordered the seafood light bites. What a fantastic meal. A plate of crisp assorted lettuces with the best homemade fish cake I have ever eaten. The plate also had fresh calamari and prawns in pastry all topped off with a sweet chilli sauce.
I have travellled all over the world as an ex-Harrods buyer and eaten in some of the finest restaurants. My husband has been a chef in both the Ritz in Paris and at Claridges, London.
I do not know the names of the two ladies who own it but the cook deserves a medal.
